LB Andrologidata is a tool that has been developed since 1993 to facilitate for the andrology laboratory to register, sort and print lab reports and produce lists as basis for debits. The results that are registered, calculated and printed in the lab report are based on the recommendations of the WHO, ESHRE and NAFA. The software system is based on Windows XP and Microsoft Office 2003-2007. The system has been investigated and approved in conjunction with the accreditation of the Andrology Laboratory at the Karolinska University Hospital, Huddinge, 2007. The LB Andrologidata software package includes the following modules:
Registration of analysis results In this module results are registered the first day the samples are investigated together with the results already obtained and remaining investigations (e.g. biochemistry, morphology). Each variable will only be entered once for every parameter and patient. When data are used for calculations and for other purposes, the software handles copying and moving of data. Comprehensive control systems decrease the risk for input of incorrect sample dates, patient identities and sample identities. The input module stores data in several databases based on different qualities. Also referring physician and clinic is registered which together with an address database allow automatic printing of a front endpaper when the lab report is printed. Data that has been registered can be corrected both starting from patient identity and from sample identity. The input module comprises basic analysis (concentration, motility, morphology, vitality), biochemistry (zinc, fructose, a-glucosidase), antisperm antibodies (SpermMarTM, Immunobead testTM), penetration in cervical mucus and crossed Kremer test, ejaculation sequence, diagnostic sperm preparation, cryo storage and several optional special analyses. Printout module With the starting point from patient identity or an automatically generated list of patients with newly registered samples, the system handles automatized printouts of cumulative lab reports. Also printouts from individual patients are easy to perform. If the referring clinic has been registered in the address database a front endpaper is printed to facilitate mailing of lab reports. The printout can be directed to either a local printer or a printer in a network. Biochemical analyses From the registration of semen samples a list is generated for the biochemical analyses. The input of analyses results is performed in a semi automatized module directed by an electronic version of the list for biochemical analyses. Before the biochemical analyses have been performed and the results have been entered into the database, there is a note in the database (and on any printout done) that the biochemistry results are not ready. Basis for debits In connection with the registration of the sample, codes are entered for which type of debiting that is required. Lists with sample identity, patient identity and sample date can thereafter be generated for printing. In the database the date for generation of the debiting lists are registered. Saving and backup copies Repeated warnings are given if you try to close the software modules without saving the databases. Also the number of samples registered for debiting but without printing the debiting list are given. Backup of databases can be accomplished by internal procedures or by already existing procedures without specific links to LB Andrologidata. |
